Refresh and Recharge on Road

Published by travelwithme at 9:35 am under Bhutan Edit This

Thanks to its mountainous terrain, virgin forests, and sparsely spread population, Bhutan is yet to have a railroad network. With the only airport being located at Paro and the rivers, streams and rivulets being too fast for comfortable navigation, exploring Bhutan is mainly done on road.
The journey on road from Phuentsholing to Thimpu, Paro, and Punakha can be tiresome. With roadside eateries being located only at the small settlements and towns like Gedu and Bunakha—which are few and far between—you should pack your vehicle with enough provisions.

However, both Gedu and Bunakha have some fine food outlets, where you can recharge yourself with a cup of tea made with yak’s milk or have a refreshing can of chilled, foaming beer. You can also choose to try out the local delicacy Ema Datsi (chili cheese) with a plate of red rice or delight your taste buds with boiled rice and vegetables.
